Ben Whyte
Project Engineer
As Project Engineer at Structural Evolution, Ben plays a key role in managing project flow and overseeing the link between design and manufacture. His responsibilities include coordinating communication between design and production teams, managing consumables to prevent downtime, and maintaining high quality standards through rigorous documentation. Ben is currently working toward progressing into the role of Project Manager within the company.
Alongside his full-time position, Ben is completing a four-year BSc (Hons) in Project Management with the University of Plymouth, which includes achieving the APM PMQ qualification to further strengthen his project management expertise.
Before transitioning into engineering and project management, Ben built a career in marine biology. After graduating from the University of Plymouth with a degree in Marine Biology, he gained hands-on experience at a fish hatchery on the west coast of Scotland, rearing halibut from egg.
He later worked for the Marine Biological Association, where he designed and built seawater systems and supported major initiatives such as seawater life-support system replacements, infrastructure upgrades, and improvements to the facility’s Building Management System (BMS).
Shifting into project management has been an exciting and rewarding step for Ben, who brings a diverse marine technical background and strong problem-solving mindset to Structural Evolution. He looks forward to supporting the company’s continued growth and the innovative projects still to come.
